Our Bilingual Classes

Grande Section

The children convene twice a week, with each session lasting for 45 minutes. During these gatherings, the class delves into the world of literature by reading and discussing at least one book per week. This practice not only helps in expanding their vocabulary but also strengthens their grasp on sentence structure.

Furthermore, the students are actively encouraged to listen attentively to their peers and actively participate in sharing their own thoughts and experiences.

Over the course of the academic year, the class focuses on building a solid foundation for comprehensive learning. This involves a comprehensive exploration of all the letters of the alphabet through engaging activities such as songs, worksheets, and visual aids.

Additionally, the curriculum encompasses various important topics including the days of the week, months of the year, seasons, numbers, shapes, and the diverse aspects of English and American culture.

CP

As part of their weekly schedule, students are allocated one hour for English lessons during regular school hours. Moreover, they are granted an additional hour on either Tuesday or Thursday after school at 3.45pm to further enhance their English language skills.

These activities are designed to facilitate the expansion of students’ knowledge in English through the exploration and discovery of new stories. In the initial term, teachers prioritize cultivating a passion for storybooks and storytelling among the students.
Subsequently, in the second term, the curriculum introduces Jolly Phonics, a comprehensive program that serves as a solid foundation for reading and writing.

Jolly Phonics employs an enjoyable and multisensory approach to teach letter sounds, empowering students to effectively apply them in their reading and writing endeavors.

CE1

Within the school timetable, students are allocated one hour of English instruction per week during regular school hours. Furthermore, they are provided with an extra hour of English on either Tuesday or Thursday after school, starting at 3.45pm. This additional time is dedicated to CE1 activities, which aim to facilitate the continuous development of students’ language skills.

Throughout these activities, teachers actively encourage students to expand their vocabulary by exploring the meanings and sounds of unfamiliar words. Additionally, students are exposed to more challenging texts, allowing them to practice composing and writing simple sentences.

Moreover, they have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the enjoyment of listening to captivating stories, songs, rhymes, and poems, which further nurtures their passion for language and literature.

CE2, CM1, CM2

CE2, CM1, and CM2 students will have the opportunity to participate in two hours of weekly instruction during school hours in small groups with a maximum of eight students at their grade level.

teachers will use the English National Curriculum for key stage 2 to guide the development of the students’ speaking and listening, reading and comprehension, and writing skills. One hour of the two-hour session will be dedicated to spelling and language structure, while the other hour will be spent reviewing various works of fiction and non-fiction, such as poems, books, texts, and autobiographies.

The children will work either individually, in pairs, or as a whole group, depending on the activity. The spelling and grammar activities will be tailored to the child’s English proficiency level.
